Guardian Eye’s Partners with Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation to Support MCK Special School for the Deaf

August 7, 2025

At Guardian Eye, we believe that access to quality healthcare is a right — not a privilege. That’s why we’re proud to announce our latest partnership with the Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation (NCCF) in support of the MCK Special School for the Deaf.

Thanks to this partnership, all 440 learners and 120 teachers at the school now have access to unlimited virtual primary healthcare, powered by Guardian Eye’s smart technology solutions.

*About MCK Special School for the Deaf

MCK Special School is a dedicated learning centre for children who are hearing impaired. Located in Gauteng, the school focuses on inclusive education that supports both academic and personal development. Learners are taught South African Sign Language (SASL) and are equipped with the tools they need to thrive in a hearing world — while being embraced for exactly who they are.

Many of these learners come from communities with limited access to essential services, especially healthcare. Until now.

*How Telemedicine Works for Deaf Students

You may wonder: How can a deaf child have a virtual appointment with a doctor?

Here’s how it works: during a telemedicine session, the child and Nurse Nisha, the on-site nurse at the school, join a video call with the doctor. The child communicates in sign language, and Nurse Nisha interprets in real time — ensuring the doctor fully understands the child’s symptoms, concerns, and needs.

It’s a beautifully collaborative process that brings accessible, respectful healthcare directly to the classroom — no travel, no long waits, and no communication barriers.

*A Moment of Connection

While visiting the school, our Product & Sales Assistant Bonolo had a heartwarming moment when one of the students taught her a few words in sign language — a playful yet powerful reminder that human connection transcends sound.

*About Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation

The Nashua Children’s Charity Foundation has been improving the lives of disadvantaged children across South Africa for over 20 years. From food programs to infrastructure and now digital healthcare, the foundation works tirelessly to ensure every child receives care, support, and dignity.

This partnership with Guardian Eye is yet another step toward building a healthier, more inclusive future for all children.

Together, We’re Breaking Barriers

This isn’t just a healthcare initiative — it’s a step toward real equality. Through technology, compassion, and partnerships, we’re making sure that every child has a voice in their health journey, even if they communicate differently.
